The Service League of Cherokee County has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 28th, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US). The widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
We believe in the power and momentum of #GivingTuesday which has moved people globally to join this generosity movement and that serving and meeting the needs of others is very fulfilling. This movement allows us to share our story with others and encourages the spirit of giving to grow greater than ever. This #GivingTuesday, our goal is to cover the cost of two months of basic needs for local children. In October alone, the Service League spent $12,923.59 for rent, electricity, clothing, dental work and eye care. Being a part of the #GivingTuesday community also provides the opportunity to share the Service League of Cherokee County’s story with a wider audience while at the same time generating support for our upcoming fundraisers – Run for the Children Reindeer Run 5K on December 2, 2023, Gala & Benefit for the Children on January 27, 2024, and our Golfing Fore! the Children golf tournament to be held in June 2024.
