What is the Service League?

The Service League is a group of 100 women unified by one goal: to serve the children of Cherokee County. League members volunteer to organize fundraisers, solicit donors and sponsors, and do what it necessary to raise money to support children’s basic needs. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our purpose is solely charitable.

How do I join the Service League?

The League holds an annual membership drive in January and February of each year. Applicants apply for membership. Members must live or work in Cherokee County, be between the ages of 25 and 55, and commit to attend monthly League meetings, and volunteer at annual fundraisers. How do I contact the Service League?

The best way to contact the Service League is via email. To ensure all League funds raised are returned to the children in our community, we are a solely volunteer organization, and we do not maintain a physical office.

How can my family seek help from the Service League?

Casework is the heart of the Service League. To ensure that funds raised by the Service League are used in the most prudent manner, all requests for assistance are strongly vetted. We work closely with school counselors and social workers to obtain the necessary information. The best way for a parent to seek assistance of the league is to reach out to a school counselor or social worker or you can submit a request for assistance.

If the Service League helps my family, will our information be confidential?

All casework by the Service League is private and confidential. We steadfastly maintain the confidentiality of the families we serve. Other than a very few members within the League who must know your information to meet your needs, your child’s name and identity and will not be disclosed in any manner.

How is the money raised by the Service League spent?

The money raised by the Service League remains in Cherokee County. The League uses money raised at fundraisers and through donations and sponsorships to provide children with basic needs, utilities, housing, medical/dental/vision care and scholarships. The League also sometimes funds special needs or projects at the request of other child focused agencies.

Why should a business sponsor a League event?

Sponsoring a League event is a great way to ensure your money is put to good use within Cherokee County and to gain exposure for your organization. The League offers various levels of sponsorship for events. All sponsorship levels include some form of recognition through printed and/or online marketing, with higher level sponsors being offered an opportunity to participate in or attend the sponsored event and achieve the greatest exposure to the community. As a non-profit organization, all donations or sponsorships to the League are tax deductible.

Can I set up an annual donation to the League?

Yes! The League has established several levels of annual donations. Donations make a tremendous impact on the work of the League. No donation is too small.

How do I apply for a Service League Scholarship?

Scholarships are awarded each Spring to graduates of Cherokee County’s public high schools. The League places a strong emphasis on the child’s need when awarding scholarships. The scholarship application will be sent to all CCSD high schools January or February.   Contact us for more information about scholarships.
