Fundraising is the heart of how the Service League raises money to help children. Money raised will assist in paying for housing, utilities, medical needs, eyeglasses, dental needs, beds, clothing, school supplies, college expenses (through scholarships), and so much more. Meeting children’s needs is the mission and purpose of the Service League of Cherokee County.
Our fundraisers (Riverfest Arts and Crafts Festival, Run for the Children Reindeer Run/5K, Annual Gala and Benefit, and Golfing FORE the Children Golf Tournament) are our four major fundraising events and primary sources of revenue.
Each of these events involves sponsors who donate products to offset the cost of the events as well as contribute financially. Both types of contributions allow us to raise more money to impact the children of Cherokee County. Through their giving, our sponsors become a part of a child’s story.
Riverfest, our annual arts and crafts show, is our highest money-making fundraiser. Our juried show features over 150 arts and crafts vendors, a multicultural, diverse concessions area, a children’s activity area, and live entertainment.
Our Run for the Children Reindeer Run/5K fundraiser is now a Peachtree Road Race qualifier. Even non-runners can participate as a Santa’s Helper (ghost runner).
Our Annual Gala & Benefit is our newest fundraiser where we recognize our accomplishments for the year, outgoing league members, community partners, and where we present our Heritage of Hope award to a community leader.
Golfing FORE the Children is our newest event where you can purchase a foursome and participate in a scramble format with a shotgun start. Golfers can “buy” their way to a better game through purchasing Mulligans, String, Red Bombers, and Throws. There is also a raffle during the tournament.
Gatherings and Traditions Cookbook is the Service League’s own cookbook. We use the sales of this cookbook to continue to meet the needs of children throughout our county.
