The Service League of Cherokee County (SLCC) is pleased to announce it will be holding its inaugural Gala & Benefit for the Children on April 30, 2022 at the Timbers on Etowah in Canton, GA. The new Gala will be an evening of community celebration and fundraising for the children of Cherokee County. Funds raised at the Gala will provide basic needs for children, and a portion of the 2022 Gala proceeds will benefit a local community non-profit organization. With the focus of this year’s event being to serve Cherokee’s families experiencing homelessness, the Service League has named Must Ministries as its 2022 Gala Benefit recipient.
Also new, the Service League will be presenting at the Gala the first ever “Heritage of Hope Award”. The award will recognize and pay tribute to an individual in the community who has shown significant meritorious service to children, in keeping with the history, tradition, and legacy of the SLCC and its heritage of helping children. There will be a nomination process, an application and a panel of independent judges to help select the award recipient.
The evening will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, a raffle as well as a silent auction, and entertainment featuring a live band and dancing.
The Service League of Cherokee County was founded in 1935 and is the oldest service organization in Cherokee County. Membership includes 100 women who work year-round, collectively volunteering more than 10,000 hours per year to raise funds in order to benefit children throughout Cherokee County. Funds raised during events sponsored by the League provide day-to-day necessities for families such as food, clothing, dental care, eyeglasses, medical care, rental and utilities assistance, scholarships and much more.
