Now Accepting Heritage of Hope Award Nominations

The Service League of Cherokee County is once again seeking nominations for its annual Heritage of Hope Award. The award recognizes a community member who serves as a role model for compassion and service to children in need and strives to make Cherokee County a better place for children and the community.

“The Heritage of Hope Award embodies the values of the Service League.” Amanda Speights, Service League President. “Much like the Service League, there are numerous individuals in Cherokee County quietly working behind the scenes to improve the lives of children in our community. They deserve recognition.”

The award will be presented at the Service League’s Annual Gala and Benefit for the Children on January 28, 2023 at the Timbers on Etowah. The event, once again presented by Synovus Bank, will start at 6:00 p.m and includes buffet dinner, dancing, and raffles. The League will recognize its members who have completed their 10-year commitment to the League. “The Gala is a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together to celebrate our efforts to support the children of Cherokee County, “ said Gala co-chair, Gwen Green. “We are excited to announce that a portion of this year’s proceeds will benefit The Children’s Haven.” Tickets are $125 per person and may be purchased at www.serviceleague.net

Last year’s Heritage of Hope Award recipient was Amy Economopolous, Executive Director of the Anna Crawford Children’s Center. The award recognized Ms. Economopolous’s life long dedication to serving and protecting children of Cherokee County who may have been subjected to physical, sexual or mental abuse.

Nominations are open through December 10, 2022. A panel of judges will carefully review the accomplishments of each applicant and choose a winner based upon merit.
