Fundraising is the beginning to helping children. Money must be raised to pay for their housing, utilities, medical needs, eyeglasses, dental needs, beds, clothing, school supplies, and college expenses (through scholarships). Meeting children’s needs is the mission and purpose of the fundraisers of the Service League of Cherokee County.
Fundraisers are our primary source of revenue. Our Riverfest Arts and Crafts Festival, our Run for the Children Reindeer Run/5K , Annual Gala and Benefit, and our Golfing FORE the Children Golf Tournament, are our four major fundraising events.
Each of these events, involves sponsors who come alongside us by donating products to offset the cost of the events as well contributing financially. Both types of contributions allow us to raise more money to directly impact the children of Cherokee County. Through their giving, our sponsors become a part of a child’s story.
Riverfest, our annual arts and crafts show, is our highest money-making fundraiser. Our juried show features over 200 arts and crafts vendors, a multicultural, diverse concessions area, a children’s activity area, and live entertainment.
Our Reindeer Run for the Children 5K fundraiser is now a Peachtree Road Race qualifier. Even non-runners can participate as a Santa’s Helper (ghost runner).
Our Annual Gala & Benefit is our newest fundraiser where we recognize our accomplishments for the year, outgoing league members, community partners, and where we present our Heritage of Hope award to a community leader.
Golfing FORE the Children Golf Tournament. Foursomes participate in a scramble format with a shotgun start. Golfers can “buy” their way to a better game through purchasing Mulligans, String, Red Bombers, and Throws. There is also a raffle during the tournament.
Gatherings and Traditions Cookbook is the Service League’s own cookbook. We use the sales of this cookbook to continue to meet the needs of children throughout our county.
