The Service League held their 19th Annual Run for the Children 5K and Fun Run on December 10, 2022. The race was very successful with over 400 runners participating in the event. Music teacher, David Boggs, led Avery Elementary School’s Chorus singing the National Anthem and holiday music. Santa and one of his elves were also at the race to cheer on the runners. The Service League raised $14,690.42 to meet the needs of children in our community. In addition, $1,000 was also awarded to Cherokee High School for having the most participants at the race. The Service League would like to thank the community for participating in the run and its sponsors for its continued support. The funds raised help provide children with clothing, housing, utilities, eyeglass and dental care, Christmas gifts, scholarships, and much more.
